Mrs. Nell Mock Pennington, age 94, of Creston passed away Wednesday morning, August 31, 2016 at Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 4pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3-4pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Pennington was born in Ashe County on February 11, 1922 to the late Charles and Ruth Johnson Mock. She was a Homemaker. Nell was a long standing member at Big Laurel Church in Christ and Christian Union. She was a hard working woman; always kept a clean house and loved to cook for her family. She was also preceded in death by a husband, George William Pennington on February 10, 2005. Mrs. Pennington is survived by two sons, Dennis Pennington and wife, Diana, of Mountain City, TN and Rodney Pennington and wife, Roberta, of North Wilkesboro; a daughter, Peggy Morris, of Creston; a brother, John Mock and Mabel, of Elkton, Maryland; two grandchildren, Robin York and husband, Mike, of Warrington, VA and Rebecca Anderson and husband, Chris, of North Wilkesboro; three great-grandchildren, Logan and Grace Anderson and Taylor York; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated.
