Mr. Burley Turrell Lovell, age 67, of Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his residence. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 12PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Lea, Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating with military rites. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Boone Family Funeral Home Mr. Lovell was born in Ashe County on October 3, 1948 to the late Ervin Burley and Carrie Bare Lovell. He worked at Gates Rubber Company as a Supervisor over the Maintenance Department. He loved laughing and joking with everyone he met. He enjoyed trout and bass fishing, bingo, hunting, golfing, archery and many other outdoor activities. He loved refurbishing old items to make them new using his engineering and creative skills. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He was proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He enjoyed supporting them in the activities they were involved with. He is preceded in death by one brother; Elwood Lovell, and a sister; Betty Gray Bower. He is survived by spouse Helen Lovell of West Jefferson, two sons; Travus Lovell and wife Mandy of Jefferson, and Allan Miller of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Loraine Bower and husband John of Jefferson, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the family C/O Boone Family Funeral Home to be donated to a charity of the families choice, PO Box 786, West Jefferson, NC 28694 or donations may be made to a church of the donor’s choice.
