Obituary of Robert Glenn McNeill
Mr. Robert Glenn McNeill, better known as “Bob” age 90, of Crumpler, the Nathans Creek community passed away Monday night, September 12, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 1:00PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Brother Hayden Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:30-1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. McNeill was born in Ashe County on Friday, July 2, 1926 to the late Glenn and Lora Phillips McNeill. Bob served in the United States Reno Navy during World War II as a printer. He worked at Skyland Post for 35 years doing line-o-type. He was an avid gardener and orchardist. He was proud of his unique varieties of apples, and grafted most of his trees. He was a cancer survivor for 39 years. He attended Scottville Baptist Church
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Asleen Little McNeill on November 6, 2010; a sister, Mabel Howell.
Mr. McNeill is survived by a son, Jimmy McNeill and wife, Joyce, of Crumpler; four grandchildren, Jamie McNeill of Crumpler, Jane Lanier and husband James of Lillington, NC, Jeremy McNeill and wife Nichole of North Wilkesboro, NC, and Julie McNeill of North Wilkesboro; six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Caleb, and Eva Lanier of Lillington, NC, and Courtney and Benjamin McNeill of North Wilkesboro, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will be meeting at the home place at 6095 Hwy 221 North of Crumpler.
