Mrs. Shirley Marie Arnold Mash, age 75, of West Jefferson passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at NC Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 1:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Steve Ashley and Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the New River Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00pm on Wednesday; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Mash was born in Ashe County on July 6, 1941 to the late Wayne and Edith Little Arnold. She was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. Shirley retired from the Elkin City School; where she worked in the cafeteria. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles and crocheting. She was also preceded in death by a sister Irene Barker. Mrs. Mash is survived by a son, Jeffrey Mash and wife, Debbie, of Union Grove; three sisters, Betty Howell of West Jefferson, Phyllis Pugh and husband, Jack, of West Jefferson and Helen Francis, of Sparta; several nieces and nephews also survive.
