Mr. Horace Charles Horne, Jr. better known as “Pat”, age 90, of West Jefferson died Monday morning, October 17, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 2PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Will Heyward officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Horne was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on December 31, 1925 to the Horace and Emma Sawyer Horne, Sr. He retired from the City of Charlotte Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking and playing rook, and also making his rounds visiting his friends. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by a sister; Alice Dhortey and a brother; Robert A. Horne. He is survived by his wife, Betty Cranor Horne; two sons, Charles Horne and wife Darlene of Chattanooga, TN and David Horne and wife Jean of Laurel Fork, VA; one daughter, Beth Hawkins and husband Tim of Stanley, NC; two brothers, Jack Horne and wife Peggy of Mint Hill, NC and Gene Horne of Oak Island, NC; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
