Flossie fought a long battle with cancer. She won and is no longer in any pain. She went home to be with our savior, on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. She is with all the people who passed before that she missed dearly. Flossie is looking down on us smiling and guiding us now. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Flossie taught art for several years to youngsters around Ashe. She instilled the love of art and poetry in all her family teaching us all the things that she loved dearly. Flossie was always such a kind up beat person that would do anything to help others. She worked at Shatley Springs for many years that was the place to be for such a bubbly people person as she was. In any down time, she was painting, writing, sewing, crocheting or studying her bible. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles LaRue and a sister, Archie Shaw. She is survived by Pamela Devine, of West Jefferson; Carson Parsons, of West Jefferson; Dama Roe and husband, Rick, of West Jefferson; Pamela Marsh and husband, Jeremy Marsh and daughter, Hannah Marsh. She was a devoted home keeper that loved her family; she made many sacrifices for us all.
