Obituary of Mary Lee McCoy
Mrs. Mary Lee Joines McCoy, age 91, of Creston passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Glen Bridge Health of Boone.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Graybeal, and Rev. Mike Farmer.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Ashe County on January 14, 1925 to the late Walter and Della Rupard Joines. She was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church and she attended Big Laurel Christian Union in Creston until she was unable to attend due to her health. One of her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She enjoyed decorating and having all of her family getting together. Mary also enjoyed sewing, crochet, quilting, cooking, working in the garden, canning, and working in her flower garden and her yard.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, J.D. McCoy; her oldest son Jack Carroll McCoy on October 12, 2015 of Mountain City, TN; a sister, Doris Hammons; a brother, Walter Joines, Jr.
Mrs. McCoy is survived by two sons, John William (Bill) McCoy and companion, Elaine Brewer, of Creston and Walter Quincy McCoy and wife, Margaret, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Alice Evelyn Scott and husband, Roger Larry Scott, of West Jefferson; a daughter-in-law, Kate McCoy of Mountain City, TN; a sister-in-law, Joann Owens, of Creston; two brothers, Herbert Joines, of Mountain City, TN and Charlie R. Joines and wife, Judy, of Creston; a sister, Joann Arnold and husband, Levie of Mountain City, TN; five grandchildren; Jeanne Johnson and husband Bill Johnson of Mountain City, TN, Amanda Hamm and husband Brian Hamm Lansing, Randall McCoy and wife Melissa of Millers Creek, Craig McCoy of Denver, NC, and Steven McCoy of Mountain City, TN, six great grandchildren; Callie Dickens of Mountain City, TN, Karlee Hamm of Lansing, Mariah McCoy of Jefferson, Zack Cunningham of Denver, NC, Brendon McCoy of Millers Creek, NC, and Addison McCoy of Millers Creek, 3 great-great grandchildren; Chole Johnson, Onna Dickens of Mountain City, TN, Brynleigh Clark of Jefferson, and, several nieces and nephews.
