Mrs. Sherry Lynn Kemp, age 54, of Boone, formerly of Ashe County passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at her mother's home in Creston. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating and Speakers Rocky Nelson and Karen Powell assisting. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Friday, December 30, 2016; one hour prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Kemp was born in Watauga County on March 4, 1962 to the late Ronald Ervin Kemp and Mary Wilson Kemp. She worked as a Social Worker at Project on Aging in Watauga County. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and spoiling them rotten every chance she got. She married the love of her life, Steve. They travelled extensively, but their favorite pastime was major league baseball where they visited 16 of 30 stadiums in the US. Their favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. Sherry also collected Blue Willow china. Mrs. Kemp is survived by her husband of 26 years of marriage, Steve Smith; her mother, Mary Wilson Kemp, of Creston; a sister, Allison Kemp Sullivan and husband, Glen, of Creston; a half-brother, Danny Kemp, of White House, Texas; two nieces, Chloe and Abby Sullivan, both of Creston also survive.
