Mr. Ronald Douglas Barker, better known as "Ronnie" age 60, of Jefferson passed away Sunday night, January 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins, Rev. Johnny Blevins and Speaker Marty Peters officiating. Private graveside services will be held. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Barker was born in Wilmington, Delaware on Friday, March 9, 1956 to Emmet and Wylene Blevins Barker. He retired from Blue Ridge Electric. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. Ronnie was known as a "hard working man" and always willing to help out a friend. He enjoyed working with his twin brother, Randy; they had many projects, such as their rental property, collecting and restoring antique signs and old gas pumps. He owned several classic old cars and enjoyed going to car shows with his friends. But the most important thing in his life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them. Ronnie had retired and focused his whole world on enjoying his grandchildren, Harper and Hadley and Silas; his two nieces, Emma, Grey and his nephew, Jude. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his wife, of 14 years of marriage, Penny Lewis Barker; a daughter, Heather Peters and husband, Marty of Jefferson; a son, Nathan Barker and wife, Candace, of Deep Gap; his parents, Emmett and Wylene Barker, of Jefferson; his twin brother, Randy Barker and wife, Nancy, of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Harper and Hadley Peters of Jefferson and Silas Barker, of Deep Gap; his nieces, Callie Barker Lewis and husband, Dalton, of Jefferson, Emma Lewis, Grey Lewis, both of West Jefferson; two nephews, Luke Barker, of Jefferson and Jude Lewis, of West Jefferson also survive. The family requests no food please!
