Mr. Vaughn Stewart Miller, age 88, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday night, January 26, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00pm at Glendale Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rickie Triplett officiating. Burial will follow in the George Miller Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 1-2pm at Glendale Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on August 21, 1928 to the late Lee and Mira Miller. He enjoyed deep sea fishing. He worked in construction building condos and banks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife; Margaret Elizabeth Miller, and two brothers; Dale Miller and Earl Miller. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife , Betty Jo Mercer Miller, three daughters; Sandra Dean of Lake Worth, FL, Brenda Jones and husband Mark of Port Orange, FL, and Karen Walls and husband Joe of Midland, TX, two sons; Vaughn S Miller, Jr. and wife Gail of Crossville, TN and John Joseph Miller and wife Karen of Texas, three stepdaughters; Patricia Housewright and husband Dick of Biloxi, MS, Kathy Carter and husband Marty of Lakepark, GA, Dolly Caddell and husband Jim of Boynton Beach, FL, one stepson; Ron Johnson and wife Andrea of Bartow, FL, brothers and sisters; Ford, Ralph, Wade, Ruth, and Nadine, thirty grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, four nieces and nine nephews also survive.
