Obituary of Burl Loston Lyalls

Mr. Burl Lyalls, age 72, of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday night, February 12, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 5:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Mark Harless officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Lyalls was born in Ashe County on January 27, 1945 to the late Claude Loston and Lucy Vannoy Lyalls. He retired as a bus mechanic from Ashe County Schools. After retiring from the bus garage, he drove a bus for Westwood Elementary School. He enjoyed his cars, gardening, and greenhouses. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Bly Hedgecock and Barbara Woodie. Mr. Lyalls is survived by his wife of 44 years; Zandra Bumgarner Lyalls, two daughters; Christine Farrington and husband Wesley of Hays, NC and Amy Tilley and husband Paul of Jefferson, one son; BJ Lyalls and wife Jessica of Jefferson, three sisters; Pansy Goodman and husband Jack of Fleetwood, Faye Messer and husband Ed of West Jefferson, and Alene Cooke and husband Bill of Greensboro, four grandchildren; Kaden Farrington, Madison Farrington, Loston Lyalls, and Ashley Tilley, and several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
