Amanda Beth Hartzog, better known as Beth, age 52, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2017 at her residence. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00pm at William H. Hartzog Cemetery with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Steve Viers officiating. Beth was born in Ashe County to the late William Henry and Shelby Jean Carpenter Hartzog. She worked at Highland Union Bank in Boone, NC. She was a member of Pine Swamp Baptist Church, where she was the music director, a Sunday school teacher and the church clerk. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, hunting and farming. Beth always had a smile on her face and was making people laugh around her. She was a loving fiancé, sister and aunt; she will be missed by all. She is survived by her fiancé of 10 years, Jason Fairchild; three sisters, Brenda Summerlin and husband, Billy, of Macclesfield, NC, Debra Salmons, of West Jefferson and Sandie Bower and husband, Mark, of West Jefferson; four nieces, Renee Cooper and husband, tommy, Emily Roderick and husband, Gerald, Amanda Pennington and husband, Ryan and Mary Blackburn and husband, Chris; four nephews, Allen Pipenbrok, Matthew Bower, Seth Bower and wife, Jamie and Joseph Bower; several great nieces and nephews also survive.
