Obituary of Edward Spurgeon Tally
Mr. Edward Spurgeon Tally, better known as “Ed”, age 62, of Todd, died Thursday night, February 16, 2017 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00pm at Woodland Cemetery in Winston Salem with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. John Elledge officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Tally was born in Forsyth County on Thursday, December 2, 1954 to the late June Spurgeon and Viola Elizabeth Shurbutt Tally. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a long distance truck driver for Estes Express Line for over 14 years. He and his wife, Mary worked as a team for long distance trucking for over 20 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson in his spare time. He also loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, of 33 years of marriage, Mary Canter Tally; two daughters, Michelle Carpenter, of West Jefferson and Robin Royal, of Fleetwood; a son, Joseph Tally, of Kernersville; three sisters, Becky Engbloom, of Clemmons, June Patton, of Greensboro and Kay Kiger, of Winston Salem; a brother, Steve Tally , of Florida; five granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
