Mr. Hiram Wheeling Miller, better known as “Wheeling” age 88, of Laurel Springs passed away Monday night, March 6, 2017 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Bumgardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Bare Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on March 11, 1928 to the late Eugene and Dottie Bare Miller. He was in the United States Navy. He was a member of Laurel Fork Presbyterian Church. He worked in construction running heavy equipment for most of his working life. After his retirement he enjoyed visiting with his friends and family. Wheeling always had a joke to share with everyone. He often went to Ashe Tire to hang out with the customers. Wheeling and a group of men from his community organized the Peak Creek Ruritan Club, he was an active member for many of years. Wheeling was always happy and joking around with everyone. He always had a smile on his face. He was a loving brother and helped care for one of his sisters and a brother during their illnesses. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Reo Miller and Eugene Miller, Jr; three sisters, Elma Pinnix, Maxie McNeil and Minnie Miller. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Marie Woodie Miller; a sister, Peggy Jo Woody, of Laurel Springs; several nieces and nephews also survive.
