Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. To Kelly and the entire Poe family

What a GREAT man! It was my pleasure and privilege to work with Mr. Poe for several years at Ashe County Career Center. He was an excellent teacher whose primary focus was on the education and welfare of not only his students but also all students attending the school. He was one of the most intelligent and dedicated teachers I ever worked with. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Since I did not grow up in Kent's beloved NC, I did not really get to know him but in reading his obituary, I learned that we share more than just an extended family connection--we also share a love of nature, the majestic mountains of NC and Va., and a dedicated love for our families, including our pets. I remember distinctly when my father Dale Poe of Elk Creek, Va. passed away in 1992, that Kent and Paul both came to his viewing at Independence. That meant so much to me, my mother Retha, and our entire family. Kent and Paul both impressed me that evening as gentle men with big hearts and the photo posted with the tributes to Kent certainly depict a man at peace with himself, his surroundings, and his God. Family, most of you do not know us, but I (Anita) worked with Jo Anne in the tax office for several years in the '80's. I considered her a dear friend, one I truly miss, especially her laugh. Unfortunately, I didn't get to know Kent, but my boys knew him through high school classes. They really admired him.
I know you will miss seeing, talking with, and hugging him, but know that he and your mom are so happy just know and forever. They are waiting for you all.
