Mrs. Wylene Blevins Barker, age 83, of Jefferson passed away Friday evening, March 24, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Johnny Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Barker was born in Ashe County on Thursday, September 28, 1933 to the late Riley A. and Jennie Wallace Blevins. She retired from Sprague Electric Mfg. She was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Barker; four brothers, Paul Blevins, Roy Blevins, Bill Blevins and Clyde Blevins; four sisters, Gladys Blevins, Georgie Barker, Grace Shatley and Thelma Baldwin. Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband, Emmet Barker, of 62 years of marriage; a son, Randy Barker and wife, Nancy, of Jefferson; a sister, Ruth Faw, of Florida; four grandchildren, Heather Peters and husband, Marty, of Jefferson, Nathan Barker and wife, Candace, of Deep Gap, Callie Lewis and husband, Dalton of Jefferson and Luke Barker, of Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Harper and Hadley Peters and Silas Barker; a daughter-in-law, Penny Barker, of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests no food or flowers please! In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bristol Baptist Church, c/o Melinda Poe, 271 Shady Lane, Lansing, NC 28643.
