Sandra Bare Church passed away on April 18, 2016 in Wilmington, NC. Sandra was born in Jefferson, NC. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and a loyal ASU football fan attending all home games until her illness prevented it. Fiercely independent, she had several careers in her lifetime including a loan officer at Mountain Farm Credit in Jefferson, NC and in finance at Semiconductor Research Corporation in RTP, NC. Her favorite by far was owner/operator of Geno's restaurant. She knew nothing about the restaurant business but fearlessly jumped in with both feet. She was happiest when she was in the kitchen at Geno's and at the end of the night when she would spend time with her patrons. Sandra is survived by two brothers, John Bare of Tennessee and Pete Bare of Florida; her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Church and Patrick Lawton of Wilmington, NC and three grandchildren who she loved with all her heart, Savanna, Grace, and Ian. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Geraldine Bare and her brother Bob Bare. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. The family will receive visitors at Boone Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29 at 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made in memory of Sandra to either The Davis Community, 1011 Porters Neck Rd, Wilmington, NC 28411 where she was so well loved and cared for in her final years or the Alzheimer's Association.
