Mrs. Nona Myrtle Presnell, age 83 of Jefferson passed away Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 1pm at Smethport Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11-1pm at Smethport Baptist Church. Mrs. Presnell was born in Old Fort on January 15, 1934 to the late Thomas and Dora Gibson Davis. She enjoyed cooking, her crossword puzzles, and working in her flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ed Presnell. She is survived by three daughters; Barbara Royal and husband Victor of West Jefferson, Carlyon Sellers of Bryson City, NC, and Diane Hughes of Plum Tree, NC, one son; David Penley and wife Mary Cay of Taylorsville, three sisters; Maggie Bennett of Gardner, Patsy Brandon of Gardner, and Lorene Conner of Gardner, twelve grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
