Obituary of Charles Edward Taylor
Mr. Charles Edward Taylor, better known as “Ed” age 85, of West Jefferson, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Halsey, Rev. Tommy Dollar, and Rev. Jeff Dollar officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor was born in Ashe County on December 21, 1931 to Robert and Sessie Hurley Taylor. He served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and going to yard sales. He retired from the North Carolina Forestry Service. He enjoyed singing and playing music and was a member of The Taylor Family singers. He was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Jenny Howell, a son; Mark Taylor, two sisters; Ruth Weaver and Grace Hogue, six brothers; Shubie Taylor, Leonard Taylor, Buck Taylor, Gwyn Taylor, Fred Taylor, and Doug Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife Jessie Severt Taylor, three sons; Eddie Taylor and David Taylor or Jefferson and Kevin Blevins of Lansing, one brother; Jack Taylor of West Jefferson, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and beloved by his great nieces and nephews who called him Papaw Ed; Ashely and Addison Dollar, Cierra Bledsoe, Evan Johnson, Eli Johnson, and Ean Johnson.
