Obituary of Charles Boyd Teague, Jr.

Charles Boyd Teague, Jr. passed away Sunday, Father’s Day, June 18, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital, West Jefferson, NC.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. John Elledge officiating.

Charles was born October 8, 1930 in Hickory, NC, to Lola (Earnhardt) and Charles B. Teague, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie Gray Bowen.  A step-son Jerry Mitchell of El Cajon, CA, survives him.

He was also preceded in death by three siblings Frank Edwin Teague (wife Dottie), Nancy Jane Teague Watson (husband Ted), and Larry Gray Teague (wife Nancy Jo). Sister-in-law Nancy Jo, four nephews, three nieces and their families survive.

Also surviving are his wife Bobbie Spaulding Teague, step-daughters Amber Hartzog Stewart (husband Phil) and Tamara Hartzog Willey (husband Dan), both of Madison, AL, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Charlie served in the U.S. Navy and was a heavy construction carpenter for 41 years, until retirement in 1989. Charlie lived his life daily with zest and delight in his work. Others were drawn to him by his up-beat spirit, always.

He was a Christian and a member of King Street Baptist Church, Cocoa, FL, and Bald Mountain Baptist Church, West Jefferson, NC.

He deeply loved and highly regarded by his wife and family and our hope in Christ is another reunion day. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23
