Obituary of Clell Bernice Starling

~~Mrs. Clell White Starling, age 94, of Boone, formerly of Ashe County, passed away Friday evening, July 7, 2017 at Watauga Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 4:00pm at Laurel Springs Baptist Church. Private burial will be held in Fayetteville at LaFayette Memorial Park on Tuesday at 11:00AM.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm; one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Starling was born in Selma, NC on April 5, 1923 to the late Reuben W. and Renna Westbrook White. Clell graduated from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC and majored in elementary education. She was a 6th grade teacher.

She was also preceded in death by; her husband, Jim Starling; a son, James Michael Starling; her uncle John Oliver and aunt Emma Oliver who raised her from a child.

Mrs. Starling is survived by a son, John Craig Starling and wife, Joni, of Fayetteville; a daughter, Kathie Starling Johnson, of Rome, Georgia; a sister, Dorothy White Hinnant of Kenley, NC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
