Obituary of Effie Mae Stidhams

Mrs. Effie Mae Wiles Stidhams, age 93, of Lansing, passed away Saturday morning, July 29, 2017 at her son’s residence.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Hess and Elder Lundy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Denny Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 6-8pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stidhams was born in Ashe County on May 17, 1924 to the late Lillard and Della Carpenter Wiles. She attended New Home Baptist Church. She was known for her good cooking, and also enjoyed quilting.

Mrs. Stidhams is preceded in death by her husband Edward Stidhams, a son; Wayne Stidhams, a daughter; Carol Denny, a sister; Ruby Carpenter, and three brothers; Jerry, Herman, and Bill Wiles.

She is survived by two sons; Larry Stidhams and wife Cleda of Roan Mountain, TN, and David Stidhams and wife Rose of West Jefferson, one daughter; Debbie Miller of White Top, one brother; Jim Wiles of Lansing, two sisters; Hazel Miller and husband JC of PA, and Louvern Davis of Florida, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a special caregiver, Shirley Richardson of Lansing;  a special grand dog; Maggie Mae, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home of David Stidhams, 755 Mash Stuart Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
