Obituary of Mary Temple Hardin

Mrs. Mary Temple Greene Hardin, age 82, of West Jefferson, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Welborn, Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardin Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Sunday, August 20, 2017; one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Hardin was born in Ashe County on June 24, 1935 to the late Herbert C. and Annie Johnston Greene. Mary enjoyed working in her garden and flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister; she will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Blan Hill Greene, Clayton Greene and James Greene; a sister, Violet Mae Hartzog.

Mrs. Hardin is survived by her husband , Thomas Walter (Tommy) Hardin; a son, David Hardin and wife, Judy, of West Jefferson; two daughters, Deborah Helseth, of North Wilkesboro and Nancy Brown and husband, Ricky, of West Jefferson; a brother, Kenny Greene, of West Jefferson; four sisters, Annie Clyde Gentry, of Todd, Betty Gentry, of Abingdon, VA, Doris Phillips, of Jefferson and Martha Brown, of Todd; four grandchildren, Trent Brown of Millers Creek, Ashley Brown of West Jefferson, Nathan Brown and wife, Chasity of North Wilkesboro and Matthew Hardin of West Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Brown, Jacob Brown and Chloe Brown; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home place at 581 Beaver Creek School Road in West Jefferson.
