Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Cope Kluttz, better known as Ruth, age 86 of Jefferson, NC passed away on August 17, 2017 at Morningside Assisted Living Center in Gastonia NC with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home in West Jefferson, NC with Pastor David Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Kluttz was born in Jefferson, NC on August 28, 1930 to the late Charles Judson and Callie Reeves Cope. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room for more than forty years, both at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. After retirement and relocating back to the family's home place in Jefferson, she continued to utilize her nursing skills both in her part-time and volunteer work at Ashe Memorial Hospital and in caring for her husband through an extended illness. She also volunteered at Ashe County Library. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be missed by all. She was a member of the Ashe County Homemakers Club and Jefferson United Methodist Church in Jefferson, NC and although she became less active in her later years, she truly enjoyed her Church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Harold Lloyd Kluttz Sr., brothers Charles Roscoe Cope and Albert "Sonny" Reeves Cope and a sister Naomi Rosalie Cope. She is survived by three sons, Harold L. Kluttz Jr. and wife Margie of Iron Station, NC, Craig C. Kluttz and wife Susan of Gastonia, NC and Glenn R. Kluttz and wife Vickie of Jefferson, NC; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the gracious and loving staff of Morningside Assisted Living Center in Gastonia, North Carolina for the care Mother received during her stay at the facility. In addition, the family would like to extend thanks to Hospice of Gaston County for the excellent care and guidance they provided in supporting her final wishes.
