Mrs. Carol Dean Ring Calhoun, age 71, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday morning, September 6, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Blevins and Rev. J.D. Walton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00-3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Calhoun was born in Ashe County on Thursday, January 24, 1946 to the late Thomas Henry and Bessie June Sheets Ring. She worked for 17 years at Sara Lee Knit Products and over 30 years at McDonald's. She attended Living By Faith Church, She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching "Days of Our Lives and Criminal Minds." She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Calhoun and a sister, Rose Conleyee Ring Greer. Mrs. Calhoun is survived by three brothers, John Ring, of West Jefferson, Roy Dale Ring and wife, Rozanne, of West Jefferson and Jerry Lee Ring and wife Jeanie, of Wilkesboro; a sister, Francis Greer, of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
