Mr. Billy Joe Craven, better known as "Joe" age 82, of Millers Creek passed away Sunday morning, September 24, 2017 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Triplett and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in the Glendale Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Craven was born in Ashe County on December 24, 1934 to the late Eugene and Grace Bare Craven. He was a Diesel Mechanic. Joe was a hard worker and he also enjoyed gardening. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucinda Butchee Mr. Craven is survived by his wife, Nadine Barnes Craven; two sons, Roy Craven and wife, Rachel, of Jefferson Russell Craven, of Laurel Springs; four daughters, Kathy Lynch and husband, Allen, of Lansing, Sandy Craven, of Jefferson, Angie LaCroix and husband, Joe, of Jefferson and Pamela Joe (PJ) Craven, of Washington State; two step sons, Gary Barnes and wife, Kathy, of Glendale Springs and Terry Barnes and wife, Shannon, of West Jefferson; a step daughter, Betty Rash and husband, Danny, of Millers Creek; two brothers, Tommy Craven and wife, Shirley, of Glendale Springs and Jerry Craven and wife, Linda of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Lena Rae Gray, of Glendale Springs and Pearl Jean Miller, of Glendale Springs; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
