Mrs. Joann McCoy Roland, age 66, of Jefferson passed away Monday night, September 25, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Roland was born in Westchester, PA on July 13, 1951 to the late Charles and Mary Jane Combs McCoy. She worked as a sewing machine operator in several textile plants in Ashe County. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister; she will be missed by all. Mrs. Roland is survived by her husband, James Ivan (Jim) Roland, Sr.; two daughters, Patricia Greer of Jefferson and Mary Jo Roland of Crumpler; two sons, Joey Roland of Jefferson and Jimmy Roland of Crumpler; a brother, Vic McCoy of Jefferson; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
