Obituary of Claude William Sluder

Mr. Claude William Sluder, better known as C.W. age 69, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday night, November 19, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 3:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3pm; one hour prior to the funeral service at Bald Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Sluder was born in Ashe County on December 1, 1947 to the late Astor and Grace Phillips Sluder. He was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a scout master for 17 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert Johnson (R.J.) Sluder, Council Sluder, and Jessie Allen. He is survived by his wife of 31 years of marriage; Mary Watson Sluder, one son; Devon Sluder and wife Sarah of Boone, one daughter; Cassie Laughter and husband Rob of Cary, two brothers; Charles Allen and wife Iris of Valdese, and Dewey Allen of California, one sister; Edith Allen of Morganton, four grandchildren; Emma, Graham, Audrey, and Gabriel, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Bald Mountain Baptist Church, 1460 Bald Mountain Rd., West Jefferson, NC 28694.
