Mr. Kenneth William Schmidt, age 76, of West Jefferson, passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 2009 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the memorial service. Mr. Schmidt was born in New York on November 21, 1932 to the late William and Elsie Rolino Schmidt. He served in the United States Army during Korean War. He was Distribution Manager for a warehouse. He is survived by his wife Carol Waters Schmidt; one brother William (Bill) Schmidt of Jamestown, NC; one sister, Dorothy Byrns of Kingsburg, NJ; several nieces and nephews also survive.
