Mrs. Nadine Barnes Craven, age 85, of Millers Creek passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1:00pm at Glendale Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rickie Triplett and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Craven was born in Ashe County on September 7, 1932 to the late Lee and Mira Miller. She worked at Peerless Hosiery and also a Parkway Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. Mrs. Craven is survived by two sons, Gary Barnes and wife, Kathy, of Glendale Springs and Terry Barnes and wife, Shannon, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Betty Rash and husband, Danny, of Millers Creek; three brothers , Wade Miller, of Millers Creek, Ford Miller, of Marion, NC and Ralph Miller, of Glendale Springs; a sister, Ruth Segraves, of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Heather Peters and husband, Marty , of Jefferson, Nathan Barker and wife, Candace, of Deep Gap, Hunter Barnes, of West Jefferson, Takoda Barnes of West Jefferson and Takala Barnes of West Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Harper Peters, Hadley Peters and Silas Barker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
