Obituary of Minnie Mae Pugh

Mrs. Minnie Mae Caldwell Pugh, age 85, of Sparta passed away Sunday afternoon, December 17, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Alleghany County.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Pugh was born in Ashe County on April 10, 1932 to the late John William and Pearl Chatham Caldwell. She worked in textile plant. She enjoyed word search puzzles and children. She always enjoyed visits from her great nephew Cody Sullivan, a niece Heidi Taylor and her daughter Jillian and great, great niece Willow Sullivan.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Allison Pugh; three brothers, Thomas Walter Caldwell, Herbert Fields Caldwell and Ray Caldwell; two sisters, Janet Sue Gomez and Nell Pollard.

Mrs. Pugh is survived by a daughter, Gail Harrell and husband, Bob, of Glendale Springs; a siste, Sally Wood, of Maryland; a brother, Gary Caldwell of Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
