Mr. Carl May Houck, age 90, of Lansing passed away Tuesday night at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Jones, Rev. David Brooks, Rev. Allen Huffman, and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Calloway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Monday; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Houck was born in Ashe County on June 13, 1927 to the late Claude and Effie Howell Houck. He was a faithful member at Little Helton Baptist Church. He worked at the cattle market for many years but farmed for the majority of his life. He also enjoyed ginseng hunting. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Jarvis Houck; a son, James Houck; a sister; Irene Hall, three brothers; Ben Houck Paul Houck, and Robert Houck. He is survived by three sons; Donnie Houck and wife Betty of Jefferson, Gale Houck and wife Janet of Crumpler, and Kenneth Houck and wife Donna of Chilhowie, VA, one daughter; Marie Ring and husband Bob of Galax, VA, a daughter-in-law; Kay Houck of Todd, nine grandchildren, Teresa Houck Blevins, Michelle Houck Ham, Mark Jones, Melissa Houck Bedford, Laura Houck King, Stephen Houck, Mack Houck, Travis Houck and Shannon Bouzidi; nine great-grandchildren, Amber Blevins, Drake Bedford, Ashtyn Bedford, Brittany Arnold, Kelly Houck, Sarah Houck, Eli Houck, Grayson Houck and Miriam Bouzidi; one great great-grandchild, Isabella Arnold; two step grandchildren,. Derik Baugess and Geneva Absher; four step great grandchildren, Emily Baugess, Tucker John Baugess, Amanda Chapman and Montana Ham; three step great great-grandchildren, Mary Jane Church, Hunter Church and Nicholas Chapman; several nieces and nephews also survive.
