Obituary of Virginia Clara Severt
Mrs. Virginia Clara Dishman Severt, better known as "Polly" age 79, of Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, January 18, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00pm on Wednesday; two hours prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Severt was born in Ashe County on July 14, 1938 to the late Charles Andrew and Dorothy Collins Dishman. She enjoyed working in the garden and picking wild strawberries. One of her best qualities was making biscuits.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Vance Severt; a great granddaughter, Stormy Mullis; three sisters; Myrtle Lambert, Effie Holman and Mary Joe Severt, five brothers; Don Mullis, Zach Mullis, Harold Dishman, Gail Dishman, and Earl Dishman.
Mrs. Severt is survived by one son, Bobby Dean Severt and wife Patricia Ann of Glendale Springs; four daughters, Kathy Roten and husband Tim of Jefferson, Marty Greer and husband Daniel of Ohio, Rita Kay Ledzema of Jefferson, and Rosa Lee Bledsoe of Jefferson; one half-sister, Faye Burgess of Jefferson; nine grandchildren, Bonnie Roten Eller and husband, Micah, of Ferguson, Bernie Roten, of Deep Gap, Shane Mullis of Jefferson, Scotty Severt, of Jefferson, Brooke Greer Simpson and husband, Mark, of Ohio, Stephanie Greer Woodie of Lansing, Jonathan Severt of Jefferson, Joshua Severt and wife, Janine, of Wilkesboro and Noah Pennington, of Jefferson; twenty great grandchildren, Shanna Eller Matherly and husband, Ethan, Hunter Eller , Jamacia Mullis, Sheyenne Mullis, Emanuel Mullis, Cita Severt, Victoria Severt, Jade Shatley, Dakota Shatley, Kalisha Simpson, Austin Brooks, Trace Woodie, Grady Wooten, Boston Severt, Brylee Severt, Breanna Roten, Amber Roten, Allison Roten and Autumn Roten; one great-great grandson, Tucker Matherly; several nieces and nephews also survive.
