I'm so sorry for the loss of such a great lady. I met her and was her home health nurse, she was always so welcoming when I visited. We always had some special times after the visit. Aunt Bertha Lou, such a special person to me. I love her dearly. I have so many fond memories of growing up , spending summers visiting at the house in West Jefferson, Shatley Springs and Claybank.. Not only a wonderful aunt, but looked so much like my mother, Rosalie, that when visited with her (after my mother had died), my youngest son left after getting a good bye hug. He called his brother to say, " I just spend time with our great aunt Bertha Lou, and guess what? she looks like grandma Rosie and she hugs like her too." That was so important to a little boy, Mamas, Aunts and Grandmas are such special people. You all are loved very much.
To my cousins, My heart goes out to you. Know you are loved. We were raised well by loving parents that we will see again.t

So many happy memories of time spent with the Boone family, both in North Carolina and in Tennessee! I remember us all playing together as kids, both over at your big old house in North Carolina and especially at Grandma May's house in Tennessee. Aunt Bertha Lou always had the sweetest smile and Uncle JD always seemed to be so wise. I really admired them both. As kids, we always appreciated the delicious ham biscuits--what a special treat! Aunt Bertha Lou gave me some of my first business lessons and I truly admired her "smarts". As we were sorting through some of our Mom's keepsakes, we found many notes of encouragement from Bertha Lou. What a blessing she was! Our thoughts are with each of you. Hugs, Hugs, Oceans of hugs!
