Obituary of Linda Katherine Barker

Mrs. Linda Katherine Darnell Barker, age 63, of Jefferson passed away Friday morning, March 2, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 4:00pm at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Thomas and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm at two hours prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Barker was born in Ashe County on September 7, 1954 to the late Ardle and Cordie Woodie Darnell. She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Darnell and Gary Darnell; a sister, Mildred Bowlin.

Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband, Junior Barker; a son, Tracy Kilby and wife, Tracy Snyder, of Jefferson; two sisters, Joyce Pruitt and husband, Jerry, of Laurel Springs and Peggy Hart and husband, Paul, of Laurel Springs; four brothers, Bill Darnell and wife, Barbara, of Wilkesboro, Rocky Darnell and wife, Pat, of Wilkesboro, J.D. Darnell and wife, Andrea, of West Jefferson and Roger Darnell and wife, Carol, of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Karanda Weaver, Tanner Kilby and Taryn Kilby; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home place, 1700 Hwy 16 South, Jefferson, NC 28640.
