Obituary of Odell Lambeth Houck

Mr. Odell Lambeth Houck, better known as “Red”, age 93, of Todd, passed away Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018 at Watauga Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 3pm at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Hawkins officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-3pm at Zion United Methodist Church.

Mr. Houck was born in Ashe County on April 18, 1924 to the late Will and Callie Scott Houck. He was a hard worker and worked in the garden, raising tobacco, and the chicken houses. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working and photography.

He is preceded in death by a daughter; Karen Refour, a sister; Mabel Louise Houck, and a brother; Basil Houck.

He is survived by his wife, Jewell Gentry Houck; one son, Terry Houck of Todd; one daughter, Donna Houck of West Jefferson; four grandchildren, Maria Brown of Granite Falls, Eddie Refour of Vildese, Schuylar Houck of Todd, and Joseph Houck of Todd; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
