Mr. Billy Joe Hurley, age 63, of the Frank Dillard Community in West Jefferson passed away Thursday evening, March 22, 2018 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Greer and Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 6:30-8:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Hurley was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on March 5, 1955 to the late Bryce and Josephine Mullis Hurley. He was a member at Warrensville Baptist Church. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed bass fishing with his buddies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife; Gail Hartsoe Hurley, one son; Josh Hurley of Boone, two step sons; Kenneth Pruitt and wife Christie of Warrensville, and Keith Pruitt of West Jefferson, three brothers; James Hurley of West Jefferson, George Michael Hurley of Crumpler, Benny Hurley of West Jefferson, one sister; Ruth Neaves of Lansing, two step-grandsons; Jacob Pruitt and Carson Pruitt, one foster granddaughter; Samantha Mullis, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
