Obituary of Herbert Hoover Kemp

Mr. Herbert Hoover Kemp, age 88, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday night, March 28, 2018 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living Center.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2pm at Kemp Lewis Cemetery.

Mr. Kemp was born in Ashe County on April 7, 1929 to the late Joe and Candice Richardson Kemp. He served in the United States Army.

Mr. Kemp is preceded in death by five brothers; Ellis Kemp, John Kemp, Wiley Kemp, Lloyd Kemp, and Joseph Kemp, and four sisters; Ora Lee Paxton, Margaret Johnson, Annie Roten, and Danish Rash.

He is survived by his lifelong companion; Mable Segraves of West Jefferson, one niece; Phyllis Gordon, and six nephews; Mark Kemp, Tom Kemp, Ellis Johnson, Joe Kemp, Tim Kemp, and Lloyd Roten also survive.
