Obituary of Joe Clay Kearley

Mr. Joe Clay Kearley, age 85, of Jefferson passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1pm at New River Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Jones and Rev. Teddy Shatley officiating with military rites.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. Kearly was born in Ashe County on January 12, 1933. He served in the United States Army during the Korea War. He attended New River Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his mother; Hattie Kearly, and two infant sons.

Mr. Kearley is survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage; Barbara Jones Kearley, two sons; Darrell Kearley of Dobson, and Michael Kearley and wife Tamara of Jefferson, one daughter; Sherry Hicks and husband Gene of Elizabethton, TN, one half-brother; Jack Shatley and wife Betty of Jefferson, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great, great- grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
