Mrs. Bly Sheets St. John, age 86, of West Jefferson passed away Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Harless and Speaker Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Calloway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2018 prior to the funeral service. Mrs. St. John was born in Ashe County on February 1, 1932 to the late Allen and Ila South Sheets. She retired from Dr. Pepper Bottling Company; after many years as their bookkeeper. Bly was a member of Obids Baptist Church. She enjoyed caring for her great-grandchildren and reading. In her earlier years she also enjoyed quilting. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Theodore St. John; a son, Mitchell Alan St. John; a brother, Lennie Sheets. Mrs. St. John is survived by a daughter , Cindy Parsons, of West Jefferson; a brother, Bennie Sheets, of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Jeremy Williams and wife, Amanda, of West Jefferson and Christin Smith and husband, Andrew, of West Jefferson; four great-grandchildren, Keenan Witherspoon, Kaleb Williams, Gabe Smith and Sam Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive.
