Obituary of Dorothy Jean Jeremiah

Dorothy Jean Jeremiah, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Ashe Assisted Living and Memory Care. Dorothy was born in Minneola, NY, to Alice and Parker Eldredge. She went to Oceanside High School, NY, and graduated from Berkley Secretarial School. Dorothy was a secretary for several Physicians’ offices and at NC State. She was a faithful member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and loved spending time with her family and many friends. Dorothy loved playing the piano and hand bells, cooking, dancing, and volunteering at the Ashe County Heart Auction, Art’s Council, and Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was always ready to bring a meal or lend a hand to many local organizations and individuals.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Husband, William Jeremiah and Grandson, Eddie Hershner. Dorothy is survived by her Daughters: Robin Loughran and husband Gerard of NY, Jan Hershner and husband Greg of Warrensville, and Sons: Doug Steigerwald and wife Donna of CA, and Eugene Jeremiah and wife Fern of Pittsboro, NC. Dorothy is also survived by brother Robert Eldredge and wife Colleen of Belle Isle, FL. Twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

A celebration of life will be held at Jefferson United Methodist Church on May 12, 2018 at 11AM. The family will receive friends from 10-11am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson United Methodist Church, PO Box 236, Jefferson, NC 28640 or Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
