Obituary of Jerrell Melvin Grubb

Jerrell (Jerry) Melvin Grubb, resident of Todd, NC; passed away Friday the 15th of June 2018 in Angier, NC. 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 3pm at Laurel Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Rash officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at Laurel Knob Baptist Church after the memorial services.

Born December 21, 1946, Jerry was a graduate of Elk Knob Elementary and Beaver Creek High School.  He proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam.  After military service, he lived in Atlanta, GA for several years where he worked as a caregiver before returning to Todd.  He particularly enjoyed his last job as a shelter attendant at one of Watauga County’s Convenience Centers. 

Jerry will be remembered as a congenial guy who liked to visit with friends and neighbors, often helping them with yardwork when needed.  He always took pride in his appearance and loved nice cars.  He liked to bargain hunt and often shared his finds with friends and family.  He never missed an opportunity to tell people he appreciated them. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burl Grubb and Virginia Edwards Grubb and his brothers Steven Randall Grubb and Terry Grubb.  He is survived by his brother Barry Grubb (Kay) of Newland, NC; his sister-in-law Peni Grubb (Terry) of West Jefferson, NC; and his nieces Desiree Barr (Ricky) of Chicago, IL and Tara Johnson of Asheville, NC.

Jerry’s ashes will be placed at Stephens Cemetery in Todd, NC with his parents and brother.
