Mrs. Dianne Walker Severt, age 65, of West Jefferson died Friday afternoon, August 21, 2009 at the Margate Health & Rehab Center. A memorial service and gathering of family and friends was held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 6:30 pm at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Steve LeaShomb officiating. Burial will be held later in Old Fort, NC. Mrs. Severt was born in Old Fort, NC on Thursday, February 24, 1944 to the late Harold "Bull" Hughes and Nancy Ledford Walker. She was the Assistant Manager at Rose's Department Store. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Janice Koon, Mariam Mercell and Delores Crocker. She is survived by a daughter, Amanda Wineberg and husband, Dale, of West Jefferson; two sons, Jason Severt of Jamestown, NC and Tony Severt of West Jefferson; three brothers, Marshall Walker of Marion, NC, James Walker of Old Fort, NC and Larry Walker of Old Fort, NC; three sisters, Ima Jean Poole of Marion, NC, Linda Walker of Marion, NC and Sharon Smith of Old Fort, NC; three grandchildren, Josh Wineberg, Jessica Wineberg Smith and Breanna Severt; several nieces and nephews also survive.
