Mr. Mack Junior Horton, better known as "Bud" age 81, of Jefferson passed away Sunday night, July 1, 2018 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Fontrina Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Horton was born in Ashe County on September 22, 1936 to the late Mack and Edna Reeves Horton. He retired from Gate's Rubber Company. He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was a loving father; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Patricia Gwyn Horton on March 10, 2017; a daughter, Patricia Melinda Horton; two brothers, Thomas Horton and Roy Horton. Mr. Horton is survived by two sons, Michael Horton and wife, Greta, of Jefferson and Danny Horton, of Jefferson; seven grandchildren, Malkolm Horton, Mya Marie Horton, Ronald Maxwell, Manya Michelle Hernandez, Mikkezhia Belinda Gabriel, Kiana Miler and Daylon Taylor; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
