Mr. Thomas Walter Hardin, better known as "Tommy" age 88, of West Jefferson passed away Friday morning, July 6, 2018 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday, July 8, 2018; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Hardin was born in Ashe County on February 7, 1930 to the late John Baker and Eula Marie Miller Hardin. He served in the United States Army. He retired from Sprague Electric after 30+ years. He enjoyed farming and raising a garden; sharing his crops with family and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Temple Greene Hardin on August 17, 2017. Mr. Hardin is survived by a son, David Hardin and wife, Judy, of West Jefferson; two daughters, Nancy Brown and husband, Ricky, of West Jefferson and Deborah Helseth, of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Bill Hardin, of West Jefferson; four grandchildren, Trenton Brown, of North Wilkesboro, Ashley Brown, of West Jefferson, Nathan Brown, of North Wilkesboro and Matt Hardin of West Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Brown, Jacob Brown and Chloe Brown, all of North Wilkesboro; several nieces and nephews also survive.
