Obituary of Robert Bruce Carson

Mr. Robert Bruce Carson, better known as “Bruce”, age 84 of Crumpler passed away Wednesday morning, August 1, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Jefferson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Carson was born in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Walter J. and Beulah Osborne Carson. He was a member at Jefferson United Methodist Chuch. Bruce taught at Wilkes Community College for 25 years. He spent a summer in Israel for Archaeological Dig. He was an avid History buff, enjoyed reading, and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his one son; Robert Bruce Carson, II, and two brothers; Walter O. “Sonny” Carson, and Don Carson.

Mr. Carson is survived by his wife, Wendy Carson; two sons, David Carson and Jamie Anderson of West Jefferson, and Jeff Carson and wife Judy of Hickory; two daughters, Glenda Edwards and husband Matt of Mount Airy, and Joy Parrish and husband Jim of Rock Hill; one brother, Doug Carson and wife Phyllis of Boone; two sisters, Betty Stanley of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Bobby Gene Lusk of Bud, West Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers accepted or memorial may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
