Mrs. Gay Neal Rhodes Rose, age 83, of Warrensville, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00-1:00pm; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Rose was born in Ashe County on July 26, 1935 to the late Linville and Ellen Thompson Rhodes. She retired from Sprague Electric. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed caring for people and working in her flower garden. While in the hospital at Forsyth Medical Center, they named her the "Mountain Rose." She will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Stokes Rose on December 3, 2011; a son, Tommy Rose; four brothers, James Rhodes, Charlie Rhodes, Banner Rhodes and Gilbert Rhodes; three sisters, Cora Smallwood, Glenry Adams and Shirley Boyer. Mrs. Rose is survived by several nieces and nephews.
