Mr. J.D. Bare, age 83, of West Jefferson, passed away Monday afternoon, September 3, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Miller, Rev. Herbert McCoy and Rev. J.C. Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lawn Memorial Park of Boone with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 on Friday, September 7, 2018; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County on December 3, 1934 to the late Denton and Julia Taylor Bare. He worked at Ashe County Cheese Plant for over 30 years. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Bare is survived by his wife, Arlene Hockedy Bare; two sisters, Carolyn Shumate of Elkton, Maryland and Francis Crane of Temple, Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated.
