Mrs. Joann Brown Sexton, age 82, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Michael Lea officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm on Sunday; prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Sexton was born in Ashe County on November 14, 1935 to the late Claude W. and Mae Faw Brown. She was a devoted member of West Jefferson First Baptist Church. Joann and Ken, her husband began Sexton Tree Farm; where she worked as the main the bookkeeper. She was a hard worker and a devoted mother, she spent her life raising and caring her two sons. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jackson Sexton. Mrs. Sexton is survived by: two sons, Greg Sexton and wife, Robin, of West Jefferson and Jimbo Sexton, of Jefferson; three grandsons, Andrew Sexton and wife, Chelsey, of Laurel Springs, Matthew Sexton and Thomas Sexton both of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
