Obituary of Sandra Marie Beswick

Mrs. Sandra Marie Beswick (nee Slusher), 81, of West Jefferson, NC, formerly of Florida, passed away Thursday night, November 29th, 2018 after a short illness. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Jr., and brothers, Richard Carroll Slusher and Morris Taylor Slusher. Sandy was born on July 13, 1937 in Elkhart, IN to the late Irvin Leroy and Thelma Meadows Slusher. She had a life full of love, taking care of her siblings from a young age and then her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a magnet to children, entertaining them with her stories. She loved listening to il Divo and also keeping up with her classmates of the Miami Edison Over the Hill Gang. She enjoyed celebrating a week out of the year with the ladies of the family where her daughters (in-laws), sisters (in-laws) and nieces (in-laws) would get together to make more family memories for all, as family was very important to her. Instead of going to Texas as planned this year, the "ladies" came to Ashe County to spend a week with her. Sandy will lovingly be remembered by her "favorite" nieces and nephews, her storytelling and her cheesy potatoes! She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her four children; George III (Lori), Tammy McCullars (Gary), Karin Sue Doudna (Mark), and William (Odalis); ten grandchildren, Jennifer & George IV, Travis McCullars (Cathy), Ronald Snyder (Jolene), Christina Mahala (Josh), Mark III (Victoria), Benjamin, & Paul Doudna, Billy & Belynda; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Austin & Brandon Marenco, Gracie & Ty McCullars, Aden, Elliana & Elora Snyder, Connor & Maddy May, Avery, Morgan & Noah Dickinson, Devon, Riley, Gaige, Rory & Ryian Mahala, Dylan, Clara Mae, & Piper Doudna, and Aislynn Griggy. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Lindquist (Ronald) of TX, brother, Wesley (Dena) of TN, and Richard's wife, Mary Slusher of FL. Brother-in-laws, Rodger (MI), Charles (NJ) and Thomas Beswick (FL). She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Sandy loved her new pup Jozie and would have loved to rescue even more. Close to her heart was the rescue group, Pet's In Distress Inc. PO Box 771361, Ocala, FL; (352) 438-8283. A donation can be made in Sandy's name. The family would like to thank Medi Home Health & Hospice and all the wonderful nurses, CNA's and other staff that made the transition into palliative care easy on her and her family. They would also like to thank the many people that provided love and support to the family during this difficult time.
